Problems with the roof (part 1)

Are probably more sensitive to the problems of the roof of home owners more, because I once heard a house with a flat roof. While the ranch-style house was very beautiful and has a great number and in a community of Nice does not compensate for these factors, I had a headache, with a leaky roof. Flat roof makes it very difficult to determine the focal point for water, and even after the large patch the problem is often relaxed. Replacing the roof was expensive and because we live in a part of the country with seasonalextreme temperatures (in the Midwest), the expansion and contraction substantially in every season of life in less flat than it would have been in a balanced climate.

Most families in this country is traditional tile roof. I believe that most homeowners overlook the importance of regular testing of the state of the roofs. Note that the roof is the first line of defense against the elements, excessive wind, snow fallTorrential rain and hail to name a few.

In areas of the country where the weather leads to extreme temperatures or when the temperature is usually on the cold side, it's a good idea, a careful look at your roof a couple of times a year. You can find the shingles, short or missing. Herpes zoster may also be damaged beyond the surface begins to dissolve. Spring and autumn are probably the best time to implement the control.

If you have a specialsloping roof, or if you are elderly or have physical limitations, is to take a good idea to have a competent, hannoampie license to do the work for you. If possible, try to get some clues.

Clean your gutters is always in the fall. The trees on your property, continue to pay more attention to the gutters of movement of the leaves mess. Blocked gutters can result in accumulated water works its way under shingles causing damage to both the low and gravelleaks in the house.

In areas of the country, which is more moderate and warm temperatures throughout the year, an annual test is often sufficient if you have had too much rain.

One of my previous headaches luck was what is called a dam of ice. What happens is that the gutters are full of ice and then the rain freezes on the ice and slide under the shingles below. Finally, when the ice melts under the tiles often ends withA loss of the house. I've been there. You can do a few things to reduce the risk of ice dams form, which also include improving ventilation in the attic and minimize the addition of a better (higher value) of insulation in the attic. Even with these preventive measures, you can still form at the end of the ice dams. Not to seek a solution to chip or break the ice dam yourself. Probably fail in any case, and if you do, you end up with more damage to the ceiling, as if one tries, the othersMethod of maintaining, as far as I go.

Well, this is not a clear solution. In fact, some strange comments to your neighbors, if you follow this approach. You need two things. First, some ice Melter (calcium chloride) purchased from a local hardware store or home computer. Second, to convince the wife (s) in your house, the house of pants worn by donating to the cause. Attention fill the stockings with ice crystals or pellets and then tie Melter life. If you do not see, climb the ladder to the dam of ice (s) and location of feet of ice on the dam pantyhose legs down into the gutters. What will happen is that Melter ice will melt the ice in tights, and create a valley that drains the water make it into the gutter. Personal experience that this is not always completely resolve the problem, but it helps.

Lick one of the first (and simple) steps in the control of the roof is pulling toward the ceiling andtake a careful look at the bottom of the roof and support structures. Research agencies or services that are similar have had water damage. Follow the damage at the highest point, which is damaged. You must define a reference to a certain structure on the roof to be able to find the escape from the roof. Number of measuring the nearest identifiable damage to the roof as a vent pipe or chimney. Being able to identify the voice of escape ifmeasurements on the roof.

This is the end of Part 1 Part 2 will discuss what can be done (and should, if you need to hire someone to do it), make the necessary repairs.
